GCSE Examination Results
5 Plus GCSE Passes at A* to C (inc English and Maths):
There are significant changes to the secondary school league tables in England since 2005. The new benchmark - the "gold standard", as the government describes it - is the proportion of pupils attaining the Level 2 threshold (five or more GCSEs at A* to C or equivalent), including English and Maths GCSEs.
This first set of charts highlight the percentage of CVC pupils passing five or more GCSEs and equivalents with grades A* to C, including English and Mathematics. 12.9% of our passes this year (2007) were at A* level and 34.6% were at A*/A level.
Further information is available on the BBC Education and DfES sites.

5 Plus GCSE Passes at A* to C:
This second set of charts shows the percentage of pupils who achieved the old Level 2 benchmark (five or more GCSEs at grades A* to C or their equivalents) at the end of Key Stage 4. At Comberton, most of these pupils are in Year 11 (aged 15 or 16), the year group in which pupils normally take their GCSEs. Prior to 2005 the Department for Education and Skills had reported the attainment of 15-year-olds (i.e. age at the start of the school year).

 Value Added (Pupils' Improvement):

The complex Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4 value added score is designed to show the progress pupils have made. This is done by comparing their achievements with the median (middle) of other pupils nationally who had the same or similar prior attainment in their test results at age 10 or 11.

The pupils' individual scores are averaged to give a score for the school as a whole, shown as a number based around 1000 with an national "bottom" to "top" range of 762 to 1096 (2005 figures). Those on scores of 1057.9 and above were in the top 5% of schools nationally, those on 937.3 and below were in the bottom 5%.
The DfES says that if every pupil in a school achieved the median outcome for pupils with their level of prior attainment, the school would score 1000.
