Personal Development Curriculum
Our Personal Development curriculum is designed to enable young people manage their lives now and to develop the skills to manage their lives in the future.
Year 7 Curriculum
Year 8 Curriculum
Year 9 Curriculum
Year 10 Curriculum
Year 11 Curriculum
We want our students to be able to make clear and informed decisions to keep them safe, to promote their health and well-being and to allow them to make the best of their abilities.
We want them to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to perform their responsibilities as citizens and to be aware of their rights. We will help them understand the world of work and the opportunities for further training and development so that they can make confident career choices.
Throughout the PD programme, pupils will assess their own progress in developing their skills and understanding. During Key Stage three, pupils will be assessed on their progress in Citizenship and will be included in the annual full report. A judgement will be made on the basis of pupils' work during PD Days and on the completion of units of work within other curriculum areas. Pupils will be working towards, at or beyond the following standards:
1. Students will have demonstrated a broad and sound understanding and appreciation of Citizenship concepts, issues and events explored this year.
2. They have developed research skills, evaluated sources to judge if they are trustworthy and are able to bring together information from different sources.
3. Through their work, they have been able to show understanding of how and why changes in society take place and have used skills of enquiry, debate and discussion to clarify and express their views.
4. They have learned how to participate in school and community activity, undertaking responsibility for their learning and supporting the work of others. They have shown the ability and willingness to take on responsibilities for organising group activity.
5. They have been able to make the own point of view known with clarity and confidence while respecting the views of others while working in groups.
