   grey bullet  English Literature Specification A 3712
There are two tiers of paper:

Each pupil is entered for the tier of examination deemed most appropriate to his or her individual progress at the time of entry. This is not group dependent.
All pupils are assessed against the Grade Descriptors published in the AQA Syllabuses for English and English Literature. These descriptors are in line with the National Curriculum requirements. The following weightings apply:
English:
   - Terminal Examinations: 60%;
   - Oral Coursework: 20%
   - Written Coursework: 20%
English Literature:
   - Terminal Examination: 70%
   - Written Coursework: 30%
